HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DOCUMENTARY NARRATED BY GABRIEL BYRNE SCREENS SATURDAY, MAY 10 DURING THE BEVERLY HILLS FILM FESTIVAL

Los Angeles - On Saturday, May 10th, at 11 a.m., the Beverly Hills Film Festival will screen Patrick Shen and Greg Bennick's monumental epic Flight from Death: The Quest for Immortality, a 90-minute documentary film narrated by Gabriel Byrne. Hailed by some viewers as a "life-transformational film", Flight from Death explores the question we ask ourselves everyday: "Why do we do the things we do?" and exposes possible root motivators behind our everyday behaviors. Through stunning visuals and insightful interviews, the film explores human beings' innate and subconscious fear of death and portrays the impacts of that fear on our behavior, specifically in regards to violence. Following the work of the late cultural anthropologist and social theorist, Ernest Becker, and his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Denial of Death, this is the first documentary film ever to examine the manifestations of death anxiety on spiritual, cultural, and psychological levels.

The Beverly Hills Film Festival will take place at the Clarity Theatre, 100 North Crescent Drive, Beverly Hills. Advance tickets are available online for $10 at www.beverlyhillsfilmfestival.com. On that page, please scroll down to "2003 BHFF Saturday Screening - Block 1."

Flight from Death is the culmination of many years of research and shooting all over the world in locations such as Egypt, Israel, Guyana, Greece, China, Afghanistan, Thailand and Canada. It features interviews with leading scholars, philosophers, and authors such as Robert Jay Lifton, Irvin Yalom, Sam Keen, and Sheldon Solomon culminating in the most comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and mind-blowing investigation of humankind's relationship with death ever captured on video.

"This is a critically important film, given the state of our world," explains co-producer Greg Bennick. "Given the events of September 11th, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and tensions with North Korea, the timing couldn't be more perfect for the premiere of a film that sheds lights on how and why humans are drawn towards violence on a deep psychological level."

Patrick Shen, director and co-producer, adds, "Beyond any political messages there is a personal one as well. Death is an inevitability for all of us and the knowledge of that is with us everyday whether we like it or not. This film will once and for all face the issue head on and discuss ways to deal with it constructively. I don't doubt that it will change lives."
